DIY Doll Clothes Closet - How to make a Closet for 18 inch Dolls

Your 18-inch doll needs a place to store her clothes and accessories! Today, we're going to show you how to make a DIY doll clothes closet from two doll boxes. This is a great upcycling project that's perfect for doll clothes storage while also being eco-friendly.

Not only is it a great way to organize your child's doll clothes and accessories, but it's also a fun and creative way to craft with your child and teach them valuable skills. This double closet is easy to make, and with a little bit of creativity and imagination, you can customize it to match your child's favorite colors and patterns.

Plus, it's a great way to repurpose old cardboard boxes or other materials you might have lying around the house. So, grab your glue gun and let's get started!

SUPPLIES NEEDED for the 18" doll clothes closet

• Two 18" doll boxes
• 18-inch doll small accessory box
• Small plastic storage box
• Hot glue gun
• 1/2" wooden dowel, slightly longer than the width of the two boxes together

HOW TO MAKE THE DIY doll CLOTHES CLOSET

Step 1: Mark holes for the dowel

Use a doll clothes hanger to decide where to place the clothes rod in the closet and mark it with a pencil. 

Measure the distance from the top and side of the box to this spot.  Use those measurements to mark all box sides the same distance from the top and front.

Step 2: make holes for the dowel

Make holes in each side of the boxes at the marks to hold the dowel.  This dowel will be the clothes hanging rod.

A drill can be used to make the holes quickly. Have an adult help drill the holes in the boxes.  If you don't have a drill, carefully poke the holes with a scissor.

Step 3: Insert the dowel rod 

Slide the dowel through the holes in one of the boxes.

With adult supervision, hot glue the side of the box.

Then stick the two boxes together by placing the dowel through the holes in the second box and holding the boxes together for about 10 seconds.

Step 4: Hot Glue Ends of the Dowel

Hot glue the ends of the dowel that stick out the sides of the boxes. This will prevent the dowel from shifting and hold it in place.

These dowel ends can be used to hang hats or other accessories.

Step 4: Small Accessory box

A small accessories box or another small box can be used in the bottom of one side of the closet to store doll shoes.

Step 4: Small Drawer Storage Box

A small plastic storage box with drawers can be placed at the bottom of the other side of the closet.  This can be used to store scarves, hair accessories, and other items for the doll.

The closet is complete! This doll closet is a quick and fun project and a great way to recycle doll boxes.

Hang some doll clothes in the closet and it's ready for your doll to use.

We left our doll closet as is but it could be decorated with paper, markers and crayons to customize it to your child's favorite colors or patterns.

Your child or grandchild will be happy with the clothes closet because it has lots of storage for clothes, shoes, hats, scarves and doll accessories.
