How to Easily Turn Fabric Tubes (Dritz Quick Turn)

The Dritz Quick Turn tool is a handy tool to have in the sewers tool box arsenal.  

Have you ever made tubes for handles or other sewing projects and struggled to get the tube turned right side out?  This is a frustrating task, but this fabric tube turner will make it quick and simple.

The Dritz Quick Turn tool comes in a variety of sizes to enable the sewer to turn different sized fabric tubes. And no need to worry if the end is closed. This fabric turning tube can work its magic on open ended tubes and those that are sewn closed.How to Easily Turn Fabric Tubes - fb

Supplies to learn How to use the Dritz quick turn Fabric tube Turning Tool

  • Dritz Quick Turn (Amazon or Joann)
  • Fabric tube sewn with right sides together

Turn Tubes _1.1.1

INSTRUCTIONS to use the dritz quick turn tool for fabric tubes sewn on the end

STEP 1: Choose the size of the fabric tube turner

Because the Dritz Quick Turn tool comes in three sizes, it is important to find the size that is best for the project. For this demonstration, the large sized fabric tube turner is used.Turn Tubes _1.1.2

STEP 2: Insert the dritz tube into the fabric tube

Holding the fabric tube in one hand, slide the plastic portion of the fabric tube turner into the fabric tube. Turn Tubes _1.1.4

Make sure it slides all of the way to the sewn end of the fabric tube.Turn Tubes _1.1.5

step 3: turn the fabric tube with pointed rod

The other portion of the Drizt Quick Turn is a rod with a point on one end. Push the rod with the point-end-first into the end of the fabric tube at the sewn end where the plastic tube is.Turn Tubes _1.1.6

Gently push the rod in and slide the plastic tube down until the rod and fabric come out the open end of the fabric tube.Turn Tubes _1.1.11

Keep pushing the rod towards the end of the tube until the fabric tube is entirely turned right-side-out.Turn Tubes _1.1.12

The pointed end of the rod can be used to push the corners out of the sewn end.Turn Tubes _1.1.13

Voila!  The tube is now turned and ready for the next step in the project.Turn Tubes _1.1.14

INSTRUCTIONS to Use the Dritz Quick Turn tool for fabric tubes open on each end

STEP 1: Choose the size of the fabric tube turner

Because the Dritz Quick Turn tool comes in three sizes, it is important to find the best size for the project. For this demonstration, the large-sized fabric tube turner is used.Turn Tubes _1.1.2

STEP 2: Insert the Dritz quick turn tube into the fabric tube

Holding the fabric tube in one hand, slide the plastic portion of the fabric tube turner into the fabric tube. Turn Tubes _1.1.15

Make sure it slides into the fabric tube, leaving one inch of fabric at the end.Turn Tubes _1.1.16

step 3: turn the fabric tube with pointed rod

The other portion of the Drizt Quck Turn is a rod with a point on one end. Use the rod with the point-end-first and push it into the end of the fabric tube where the plastic tube is. Be sure to push onto the extra inch of fabric that was left at the end.Turn Tubes _1.1.17

Gently push the rod in and slide the plastic tube down until it comes out the other end of the fabric tube.Turn Tubes _1.1.18

There it is!  The tube is turned right-side out and ready for the next step in the project.Turn Tubes _1.1.21
