Today, we bring you a new free pattern to knit - a super easy and pretty heart. You can use them to decorate in many different ways.
how to knit a heart
Our free heart knitted pattern is comprised of an identical front and back which is then joined together and stuffed to form a three-dimensional squishable heart.
The shaping of the knitted heart is handled with knitting increases and knitting decreases. Once you’re done, stuff it with your preferred material. I like using polyester fiberfill, it’s washable.
These adorable heart-shaped pillows (or you could call them heart softies or heart ornaments) make great Valentine's day gifts and decorations. You can use these knitted hearts as Valentine’s day decorating items in a room, string hearts together to make a heart garland, give it as a gift to someone special or even add crinkly paper with the stuffing to make it into a sensory toy for a toddler.
Valentine's Day is a time for kids to craft. We have rounded up over 40 free Valentine's Day Crafts for Kids including papercrafts, Valentine's Day cards, painted decorations and more suitable for preschool, kindergarten and grade school kids and even tweens.

JOIN TOGETHER
Place two hearts, right sides together, and stitch around the outside of the
hearts leaving a gap large enough to turn it right side out and fit the stuffing inside.
There are numerous ways to sew seams. For this project, the best way is to use the backstitch seam method. Here is a tutorial on how to join knitted pieces by sewing with the backstitch.
I started about halfway up the side, went around the top and came halfway
down the other side.
Turn the heart right side out, and stuff – not too full, and
finished sewing the remainder of the seam. Weave in any ends.
Once the knitted heart is finished, you can leave it plain or embellish it with narrow ribbon, flowers, lace and bead trimming.
Here, you can see I added the heart to the top of an old manufacturing thread spool.
The decorating possibilities are endless.
I hope you are inspired to make this knitted heart pattern. It is surprisingly easy and can be complete in a few hours.
