Best Free Easter and Spring Crochet Patterns and Project Ideas: Crochet Chicks, Bunnies, Baskets and More

Spring is soon to be sprung in my niche of the world!  Well, to be honest, that’s what I'd like to think!

It’s still winter here, but spring and Easter will be here before you know it!  It’s time to start crocheting some or even all of the wonderful Easter ideas we have for you!

(Please leave a comment if you do them all! LOL)

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to share these fun and free crochet patterns!

We have found so many Easter and spring crochet ideas, from eggs, to baskets, to bunnies, to chicks, and egg covers…..the list seems endless!!

Easter Crochet Eggs

When you talk Easter, you have to talk eggs!!

You'll find a great free pattern for eggs that you can crochet. You then use simple embroidery stitches to decorate the eggs with easy and dainty flowers. So pretty!

Another adorable Easter egg pattern is one that can be made to cover plastic eggs.  The basic pattern forms the body of a spring animal.

With a few simple additions and some embroidery, you have a cute chick, a bunny with long ears, and a fluffy sheep.

Once you have the basic body, it is easy and quick to make the different animals.  The covered eggs will make for a great display in an Easter basket or for your home decor.

I just love the free surprise egg pattern too!  Here you will learn to crochet a hinged egg that buttons closed to hide a crocheted animal friend.  KIds can’t wait to open them and find the cute surprise inside!

If you’re looking for a quick and fun, last minute Easter egg crochet idea, make up the cute little minions from Despicable Me.  The pattern includes the recognizable minion goggle eyes and overalls.

Sport weight yarn with a D/3.25 mm hook will give you a minion about 4” high. Super easy and great for a beginner!

You must check out the free crochet patterns for tiny crocheted eggs that, depending on your hook size, are 2.5” or 4” tall.  Use up your yarn scraps to make these cute mini eggs!

Keep browsing our list of patterns for many more Easter egg patterns and ideas!

Easter Crochet Baskets

Crochet Easter baskets of all shapes and sizes abound on this page!

There are several patterns to make mini baskets just big enough to hold a few small chocolate eggs or some jelly beans.

Imagine these on each guest’s plate at Easter brunch!  They would make great party favors or simply adorable decorations for your home. One site even suggests adding crocheted flowers for a May Day basket!

Free crochet patterns for larger and sturdy crocheted baskets that are perfect for an egg hunt are also in the mix.  Crochet up a new Easter basket for this year!

The cheerful rabbit basket with perky ears and a friendly face is sturdy enough to carry all of the eggs for that Easter egg hunt! The kiddos will LOVE this special bunny basket.

I’m also excited about the free pattern for a special farmhouse style basket that could be used year-round.

This basket is made by crocheting jute and adding a rustic leather handle with snaps.  It is a simple yet gorgeous Easter basket or anytime basket.

Be sure to take a look at all of the other cute Easter basket patterns we have!

Easter Crochet Toys

What young child doesn’t like finger puppets?!  We have a free pattern for adorable crochet bunny finger puppets with removable accessories!  They are quick to whip up and would be a great toy for Easter baskets.

Check out the free crochet patterns for the cuddly bunny doll and the bunny “lovey”!  Both are so cute and huggable!

It’s a great idea to make the lovey with brown yarn; it won’t show stains like a pastel or white bunny would!

You’ll also find a free amigurumi pattern to make a cube family of crochet animal friends.  Simply use the basic cube body pattern to make a cute little bunny with his carrot, which is perfect for Easter!

Once you learn how to make him, you can use the same cube body to crochet a puppy, kitty, pig, bird or bat with their unique patterns.

Easter Crochet Clothing

We found some festive crochet patterns for clothing and accessories for the kiddos!

Get ready for Easter with a sweet bunny hat and matching diaper cover for the tiniest ones and take a peek at some of the fun Easter bonnets and hats we have to show you.

Trouble with bath time?  How about a washcloth? OK, the crochet Easter bunny washcloth isn’t exactly a toy, but it would certainly add fun to the bathtub and might even end that bath time struggle!!

Don’t forget the bunny headbands!  We have free crochet patterns for different styled bunny ears just waiting to be made for kids or adults!

Easter Crochet Home Decor

How much fun would it be to festoon the walls of your home this season with a spring garland, bunting or banner?  The free crochet patterns will get you started decorating in style.

Decorating the door of your home with a cheerful spring wreath makes for a refreshing change from the grays of winter.  There are so many different wreath ideas here that you are sure to find the perfect one to adorn your front entrance.

Having a crowd in your kitchen for Easter brunch?  The bright yarn-stash-busting table runner would be lovely to lay on the dining table or your buffet table.

Another fun and unique idea for your Easter guests is the crochet Easter place setting pattern!

Add your own little details like colorful buttons, rick rack, or beads and then stitch on a band in the back to hold a napkin and dining utensils. Very clever!

Spring is known for its quickly changing weather.  For those cooler spring mornings, crochet the super-cute bunny mug cozy, complete with a fluffy handmade pompom tail!

We also have a link to an oh-so-sweet crochet tissue box holder.  The pretty pastel eggs crocheted on the sides are very delicate and make an adorable Easter decoration.

I must admit, though I'd like to, I could never crochet all of these wonderful projects.  But really, do you think you could pick just one?!

Oh and then what about crocheting for Christmas?  Get started early; seasonal crochet is such fun!

Enjoy browsing around to see all we have to offer on this Easter crochet page!
