Those who know me are very aware that I go all out for each and every holiday, including one of my favorites, St. Patrick’s Day!
As a teacher, I loved finding new and exciting St. Patrick’s Day activities for the kids in my classroom. There are so many fun things to do for this special day like shamrock crafts, leprechaun crafts, and making rainbows and pots of gold!
It’s like bringing spring in early!
This page is full of St. Patrick’s Day crafts for kids! They are great to do at home with the littles and some are even wonderful group crafts for the classroom.
We have a page devoted to St. Patrick's Day crafts for adults, too! You will want to head there for great crafts and decorating ideas after checking out what's here.
Leprechaun Crafts
Leprechauns, the adorable and mischievous little guys that are a symbol of St. Patrick’s Day, make a great theme for many St. Patrick’s Day crafts for kids.
My all time favorite leprechaun craft when I taught was to have the kids make leprechaun traps! They loved this, as did my own kids when we made them at home. The activity involves a lot of problem solving and is great for kids to do alone or in small classroom groups.
Check out the link to the leprechaun craft on this page that shows how to make a trap from a cereal box! The kiddos can get really creative with this St. Patrick’s Day craft!
There are several links to making leprechaun hats here. Each of the leprechaun hat crafts are a little bit different.
You will find many leprechaun hats made from craft sticks along with a cute wearable leprechaun hat that can be worn to show your St. Patrick’s Day enthusiasm!
There are many more leprechaun crafts to be found below. Scroll down to see more!
Shamrock Crafts
What is St. Patrick’s Day without a few shamrock crafts? These four leaf clovers are a symbol of good luck. The leaves represent luck, hope, faith and love.
Several of the shamrock crafts below are great for little ones to practice their fine motor skills, like the Bead Shamrock Craft from Mess for Less. Stringing the beads combines a fun project with skill building.
The fine motor skill of using scissors to cut can be found in many of the shamrock crafts. The Coffee Filter Shamrock Craft is made with coffee filters and other common craft supplies.
Cutting the coffee filter into a shamrock shape is great fine motor practice. These shamrocks will make bright, colorful decorations during a drab wintery month!
This page is full of shamrock crafts to do with kids of all ages! Take a look below.
Other St. Patrick’s Day Activities for Kids
Don’t forget the rainbows and pots of gold! There are fun and festive rainbow crafts just waiting to be made! Take a look at the Pot of Gold activity from The Gingerbread House.
This lacing rainbow craft provides great fine motor skills for little ones and lots of fun work for older kids. The finished rainbow is so bright and colorful! You really need to check this one out!
