Thanksgiving is one of those special holidays that people of all backgrounds and religious affiliations in the US can celebrate. I just love that!
This holiday was always a very large celebration when I was a kid. My mom had tons of Thanksgiving activities for the kids to do that she would then use to decorate the house.
My craft every year was to make place cards for all of the guests for Thanksgiving dinner. I thought that was a magnificent task as a kid! I could show off my artistic qualities to everyone who was invited!
Each year I looked for designs and techniques to make the place cards better than years past. I remember one year that I used a paint marbling technique for the backgrounds. What a mess that was!
Everyone enjoyed them (and I was able to sit myself next to my favorite aunts). When my grandmother passed, I was given each and every place card I had ever made for her! Such a handful of memories that I was gifted.
Today, my kids enjoy the task that I’ve handed down to them. As kids they loved the DIY turkey crafts that would abound at our house, but now that they are older, making place cards is their favorite Thanksgiving craft!
This page is full of fun Thanksgiving activities for kids of all ages. You’ll find crafts for toddlers on up.
