With spring comes the annual event of Earth Day on April 22nd. There are many Earth Day activities and crafts for kids to do and make. This day is a special reminder that it’s important to care for Mother Earth every day!
Committing to caring for the Earth and all its living things is not merely taught to kids. They learn from what they see other significant people in their lives doing.
Does the family compost? This is something that the younger generations need to be taught so that it becomes second nature to them. Most kiddos love taking the trip to the compost bin at the end of the day!
This means less trash and much more good soil for gardening, which is another way to be eco-conscious. Growing food for family meals is so rewarding, and it cuts down on grocery store trips and unnecessary packaging of produce. Let’s not forget the fuel used to transport the produce to the grocery stores!
Recycling is also important to reduce trash in landfills. Most areas have a recycling program where you place your plastic bottles, paper, egg cartons, tin cans, milk jugs, and more into a recycling bin, and it's picked up once weekly. If your area doesn't have a recycling program, collect and take your recycling to the recycling center.
