INSTRUCTIONS for building lego pencil holder
STEP 1: GATHER LEGO
With LEGO you already have at home, gather up the necessary supplies. For this pencil holder project, I used a combination of two colors of LEGO bricks - black and white. However, the LEGO pencil pot can be made with any color combination or build a colorful pencil holder by using multi-color blocks.
This LEGO pen and pencil holder is very versatile.
STEP 2: BASE
To make the base of the pencil and memo pad holder, attach base plates together to measure 12 x 14 studs long.
Example of the front of the pencil holder base.
The above picture is an example of the back of the pencil holder base.
STEP 3: PENCIL HOLDER
The pencil holder is placed on one side of the base plate and consists of 10 rows of bricks. The memo holder is on the other side and is six bricks high.
To build the pencil holder:
1) Row 1: Begin with the first color of LEGO and build a rectangle 10 x 12 at one end of the base plate.
2) Row 2 & 3: With the second color, build two rows on top of the first row making sure to overlap the bricks. Three rows are completed.
3) Row 4: Again place color #1 around the structure.
4) Row 5 & 6: Color #2.
5) Row 7: Color #1.
6) Row 8 & 9: Color #2.
7) Row 10: Color #1.The completed pencil holder. At this point, you can stop or you could also give the pencil holder a more finished appearance by placing tiles on top. Tiles are flat LEGO pieces without studs that can be used for decorative purposes.
STEP 4: BUILD MEMO PAD HOLDER
On the two studs on the other end of the base plate, build a wall 2 x 10, six bricks high using whatever bricks you have available. Use the same color combination that was used to build the pencil holder.
Continue building the memo pad wall until it is six bricks high. Again you can stop or you could also give the memo pad wall a more finished appearance by placing tiles on top.

STEP 5: IT'S DONE
Now all you have to do is give it as a gift to Dad, Mom, Grandpa, Grandma, or someone special. Or use it yourself as a desk organizer to tidy up your desk and store school supplies such as pencils, rulers, scissors, and other items in it.
