Dad Nuts and Bolts Picture Frame - HardwareLayout all the nuts, bolts, washers, and screws on the table and allow the child to choose which ones they want to use to decorate the frame.

STEP 5:

Dad Nuts and Bolts Picture Frame - Dab GlueWith some strong glue such as Elmer’s Glue-All, let the child select a piece of hardware and apply a dab of glue to the frame.

Elmer's Glue-All is a multi-purpose strong glue that is non-toxic with no harmful fumes, can easily be cleaned up with water and it dries clear.

Dad Nuts and Bolts Picture Frame - Place BoltTop the dab of glue with a nut, bolt, screw or washer.  Allow the child to continue gluing hardware to their heart's content.

Dad Nuts and Bolts Picture Frame - GluedInstead of strong liquid glue, hot glue can be used.  However, don't let the child use the hot glue gun by themselves.  Let them pick the items to be glued, place it where they want it on the frame and an adult should glue it in place.

STEP 6:

Dad Nuts and Bolts Picture Frame - GluedOnce everything is glued in place, allow the glue to dry overnight.

While the glue is drying, this is a good time to decide what to place inside the frame. Some ideas are:

  • Picture
  • Handwritten note from the child
  • Child's handprint
  • Coloring page
  • Child's drawing

STEP 7:

Dad Nuts and Bolts Picture Frame - CompleteAfter the glue is thoroughly dried, put the glass back in the frame, pop in the decided item, and replace the frame’s backing.

STEP 8:

Don’t forget to write the child’s name and the year on the back of the frame.

The frame is ready for gifting.  Dad is sure to love showing off the cute handmade picture frame gift by displaying it at the office or at home in his man cave or family room.

This would also make a super gift idea for Dad's birthday or Christmas.  And don't forget Grandpa.

Kids and Mom have fun creating this unique present.
