Create a simple bat glove puppet for Halloween this year.
Creating a Halloween bat glove puppet is a great craft and a wonderful fall holiday project or a fun project any time of year. This glove puppet is perfect to use with the poem "Five Little Bats", which can be found below.
To create your bat glove puppet, all you need is some black craft foam or felt, googly eyes, the bat template and a little glue. Once you have your materials, you can use them to create cute bats that can be glued to each finger of the glove.
When the poem is recited with the little ones at home or for classroom use at school, the bats can move one at a time to accompany the poem. This is a great way to engage kids and help them learn while having fun.
When Wendy taught, she recited a poem to her kindergarten class called "Five Little Pumpkins." Having a pumpkin glove puppet in bright colors would have been great for this lesson.
If you're feeling especially creative, you can also try making other types of puppets, such as sock puppets, hand puppets, and finger puppets, by going to our puppet free patterns craft idea page. There are endless possibilities for making your puppets that you can use with young children for imaginative puppet play and learning with puppets.

INSTRUCTIONS to make a Halloween puppet
STEP 1: cut out bats from the craft foam
First, download and print the free bat pattern from the PDF file. The free PDF download is available at the end of this article. Scroll past my signature to find the link.
Then, use scissors to cut the bat pattern out. This will be used to trace with the pencil onto the black craft foam.
Use the pattern as a guide, trace, and cut out five bats from the black craft foam for this puppet project.
Step 2: stick googly eyes on the bats
Using the craft glue, attach two wiggly eyes to each bat. These bats become so cute once the silly eyes are on them. Wait for the craft glue to dry before moving on to the next step.
Step 3: Glue the bats to the glove
Once the bats are dry, use craft or foam glue to glue one to the tips of each finger of the glove.
Let the bats dry on the glove. Be patient! This may take some time!
Once the little bats are dried on the glove tips, slip a hand into the glove, and you will have a Halloween bat glove puppet!
