INSTRUCTIONS to make cozy slippers for an 18" doll

STEP 1: Make a template for The slipper

The first step is to use the pencil to trace around the doll's shoe onto the paper. Hold the top part of the shoe and place the sole on the paper. Carefully trace around the shoe onto the paper to make the template for the slipper. Doll Spa Slippers_1.1.2Since the shoe fits the doll, it will be the perfect size for the slipper.

Cut around the line on the paper adding a 1/4" all of the way around. Be sure to use all-purpose scissors for this and not the fabric scissors.

STEP 2: Trace the template onto the fabrics

Place the cut-out template on the terry cloth. Cut out two pieces from the terry cloth fabric. One of the pieces will be for the inner soles.

One piece will be needed for the felt, which will be the outer sole. In the same way, trace around the template onto the felt.

Using the fabric scissors, cut out the two terry cloth pieces and the one felt fabric for the single slipper.Doll Spa Slippers_1.1.3

Step 3: Prepare the fabric pieces for sewing

Lay the felt piece down on the work surface. Take one piece of the terry cloth and carefully place it on top of the felt piece.

Take the second piece of terry cloth and fold it in half. Lay it on the top of the terry cloth piece that is on the felt. This will be the top part of the slipper. Doll Spa Slippers_1.1.4Pinning or clipping the pieces to hold them together and in place may be helpful.

Step four: sew the pieces of fabric together

Take the stacked pieces of fabric to the sewing machine. Set the sewing machine to the zig-zag stitch. It is helpful to set the stitch width a little bit wider than the default setting.

Keeping the pieces in place, sew around them using the zig-zag stitch.Doll Spa Slippers_1.1.5

Cut the loose threads after removing the slipper from the sewing machine.

The slipper is finished and ready to be placed on the doll. The slipper should fit the doll's feet perfectly!Doll Spa Slippers_1.1.6

Now repeat the steps to make the second slipper so you have a pair for the doll to wear at the spa or whenever she is relaxing at home.Doll Spa Slippers_1.1.7
