Making angels with the kids at Christmas time was always a treat. Our other holiday crafts were fun and cute, but there was always something special about making sweet angel crafts with kids.
I loved making them with my own kids, and as a Sunday School Teacher, I would get so excited when Christmas rolled around, and I could start planning the angel crafts for my preschoolers.
Paper plate angels are so popular with the little ones and adults too; I think it’s because they are simple and easy for the kids to make and use very little special materials.
You are going to be amazed at all of the different types of fun and free angel projects that we’ve found for you. We’ve included MANY paper plate angel crafts for kids, along with many other angel projects for preschoolers and young children to make.
Paper Plate Angels
Let’s begin with the paper plate angel projects! I know many of you are here looking for those specifically.
One of my favorites that you’ll find below is the Handprint Winged Paper Plate Angel tutorial. It includes the trusty paper plate, but it is also a handprint craft that uses the child’s handprint as the angel’s wings.
Parents and grandparents love to receive artwork with the little handprints of their tiny tots. Handprint crafts are so special; over time, they become pieces of memorabilia showing how the kids have grown.
My kids have handprint ornaments that we hang on the tree each year, and every time they get them out of the holiday storage boxes, they press their large hands against the little print, amazed that they were once that small.
I love to watch them do that; it brings back such beautiful memories of them as toddlers and preschoolers, a time that seems like forever-and-a-day ago.
Another paper plate angel that I’d like to highlight for you is the Paper Plate Angel from Red Ted Art. It will guide you through basic steps to make a 3D paper plate angel that needs no glue or stapling!
This cute paper plate angel can also double as a tree topper!
Angel Craft Ornaments For Kids
We have some super-quick and easy angel ornaments that make lovely decorations for your tree, as well as wonderful Christmas gifts for those special people in your child’s life!
In our annual family ornament exchange last year, my Italian brother-in-law made their family swap ornaments out of pasta! It was so unique; I had never seen anything like it before.
He made it extra special by having the angel holding a penny with year he exchanged that ornament. So very creative!
The Pasta Angel Craft from Toys in the Dryer is very similar to the ornament I have from my sister and brother-in-law, and you could easily add his penny idea to this one.
Those mini clay plant pots make adorable angel crafts for kids. These are the perfect size for tree ornaments and would be a great craft for upper elementary kids to make.
Check out the Clay Pot Angels from Craft Bits to see these painted clay pot ornaments. Be sure to buy your pots from your local dollar store to keep the costs to a bare minimum!
As a side note, the mini clay pots also make great holiday bell ornaments. We have one of those on our tree, too! Some paint, ribbon and an optional jingle bell are all it takes!
Creative and Surprising Angel Crafts for Kids
OK, the pasta angel was very creative and a surprising way to make an angel craft for kids. But that is by far not the only one you’ll find here.
Scroll down to the Singing Angels project from Ruffles and Rain Boots. The creative angel craft uses painted rocks! I was taken pleasantly by surprise when I came across this free angel craft for kids!
Rocks and feathers; who wouldn’t love to make this cute singing angel craft? I know I’d love it and so would my young nieces and nephews! Painting rocks is so fun!
There are many other very creative angel crafts for kids on this page. You’ll find angels made from plastic and wooden spoons, coffee filter angels, angels from decorative cupcake liners, beautiful fan-folded angels, and much much more!
Sit down with your own sweet angel and choose an angel project for kids to make. They are all wonderful! You can’t go wrong!
