Remember to turn off and unplug your machine before cleaning. Below are some close up photos of the Bernina 240 which was used in the video.
To pop off the presser foot plate, press down on the bullet in the top right side of the plate.
Once you remove the plate, use your soft brush to brush out all lint from the top section of the machine.
Open the cover to the bobbin area and remove the bobbin holder and bobbin.
Press the button to open the hook race cover. Remove the hook and use your soft brush to clean all lint from the area. You can blow or use an air can blow out the lint also.
Oil your machine per the instructions in your manual. Our manual instructs to put 2-3 drops of oil on the hook race. See photo for where to put the oil. If you add too much oil, the oil can get onto your work, so be careful how many drops you add.
Reassemble your machine in reverse order by replacing the hook, hook race cover. Replace the presser footplate.
Plug your machine back in and turn it on. Run your machine for a minute or two without any fabric. This will spread the oil around so it won't get on your project.
Replace your presser foot and needle. You are ready to start sewing again.
