The video below tells about a vintage looking bag made by Annette from Needlepointers.com.
The Melford Messenger Bag Pattern by Charlie's Aunt is a 1940's vintage inspired messenger bag based on the ARP wardens' bag. The bag is a practical size for everyday use.

There is an unusually shaped front pocket and flap with three big buttons for a decorative accent. A magnetic snap keeps the bag securely closed but also permits the bag to be easily opened.
The front has two contrasting fabrics. Annette's used a wool fabric she quilted herself and a cork fabric.
The strap can be a self-made fabric strap or a store brought strap. For this bag, Annette made the strap.
The bag is completely lined with an interior pocket.
The finished size is 12" wide x 14" long and 2" depth.
By making purses and bags yourself, you create a bag that is different, unique and one-of-a-kind. That is what I love about making my own bags.
