Incorporating beads into crochet work may seem intimidating.  However, it actually is a fairly easy technique. If you have mastered the single crochet, you can do the beaded single crochet.

When can you use bead crochet?  Bead crochet can be incorporated into almost any crochet project.  Beads can be added to crocheted jewelry, bridal crochet projects, sweaters, doilies, and lots of other crochet projects.  The possibilities are endless.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Crochet Thread or Yarn
  • Beads
  • Crochet Hook
  • Needle

Beaded Single Crochet Tutorial - Finished Beads

The first thing you need to do is to string the beads onto the yarn or crochet thread.  To make the stringing easier, thread the yarn or crochet thread onto a needle, and use the needle to string the beads.  One of the challenges is getting the right size needle to use.  The needle with yarn or thread has to be able to fit through the bead hole.

I also recommend stringing a few more beads then called for in the project.  You don't want to get to the end of the project and realize you miss counted and don't have enough beads.

Another important note is that the beads are always added from the wrong side of the crochet work.
