Do you like these pumpkin cats that I crocheted? These are the purrfect home decor for a cat lover in the fall. Give these as great gifts for Halloween!
The pumpkin cat has front and back legs, a tail, ears with some stitches to decorate them, and a pumpkin stem. The eyes are standard stuffed animal eyes. I decided to use a stuffed animal nose on mine instead of stitching a nose.
The cute cat crochet pattern is inexpensive and available for purchase. Scroll down to the pattern section for a link to purchase this pattern.

WHAT YOU NEED to make the pumpkin cats
Pumpkin cat Features
The cats are made by crocheting different parts: ears, legs, tail, pumpkin stem, and pumpkin. The parts except the pumpkin are crocheted in the round, starting with a magic ring. A stitch marker is helpful when stitching in the round. Click the link for some super cute cat stitch markers!
The legs and tail are stuffed with fiberfill stuffing.
The front of the ears is embellished with a few long stitches.
The pumpkin is crocheted as a flat rectangle and then joined into a circle to make the body of the cat. Insert safety eyes and nose, or stitch the nose with black yarn or floss. I decided to use a safety nose for my cats.
The top and bottom of the pumpkin are gathered and stuffed. Then, the ears and stem are stitched to the top of the head with a blunt point needle. The legs and tail are stitched underneath the pumpkin.
Size of the Pumpkin Cat
The pattern says that the pumpkin cat will be just over 3 inches high and wide when using Yarnart Jeans yarn, fine-weight cotton yarn, and a smaller hook (2 mm).
I stitched my cats using Sugar & Cream cotton medium-weight yarn. They turned out larger, at about 4 ½ inches high and wide. I used a bigger hook of 4 mm for stitching my pumpkin cats. Almost any style or weight of yarn can be used; just adjust the crochet hook size.
They still are super cute!
About the Pattern
These pumpkin cats can be made by a confident beginner crocheter. They use only a few basic stitches, such as single crochet stitch, slip stitch, magic circle, decrease, and chain.
The pattern is available on Lovey Crochet Patterns' Etsy Shop (click the link to get the pattern!). It is an instant downloadable printable PDF and is on sale for less than $3 until around October 30th, 2024.
We hope you enjoyed learning about this amigurumi cat pattern. They are so much fun to make! Happy Halloween!
Annette also made a few pumpkin cats for the great-grandkids. Since the kids are 5 years and under, her pumpkin cats feature stitched eyes and a stitched nose.
