vintage-inspired Santa jar
The image above showcases the original Santa jar. In this tutorial, I've added my own creative flair to give it a unique personal touch.
WHAT YOU NEED for the Santa Claus jar:
INSTRUCTIONS for santa candy jar :
STEP 1: gather your supplies
Start by cleaning and washing a baby food jar or any small size jar you have available.
For each jar, you'll need pom-poms - two small black, two slightly larger blue, one large red and one white. You'll also need some white and red felt, polyester fiberfill or cotton balls along with the following tools - scissor, glue and glue applicator (such as a toothpick or wooden skewer).
STEP 2: create Santa's face
Let's begin by putting Santa's eyes on the jar.
First, cut two small circles from the white felt. Apply some glue to the front of the jar and attach the white circles. Then glue a small blue pom-pom on each circle for the irises, followed by a black one for the pupils. The following picture shows the placement. Add a red pom pom nose.
STEP 3: Make Santa's Hat
Place the jar lid on the red felt and trace around it with a ball point pen. Then, cut out the circle.
Spread glue on the top of the lid and attach the red felt circle to cover it completely.
From the red felt, cut out a triangle shape. Glue it to the top of the jar, allowing the triangle tip to extend upward.
To add the hat trim, first measure the circumference and width of the jar rim. Cut a white strip of felt to that measurement. Glue it around the edge of jar lid.
STEP 4: Finish the Hat and Add Details
Now, pull point of hat downward and glue it to the jar rim. Attach a fluffy white pom pom to the tip.
Decorate the hat trim by gluing fiberfill or pulled-apart cotton balls to it.
Apply glue below and around Santa's face and attach fiberfill or cotton balls to create his fluffy beard.
Fill the jar with Christmas candy or a small gift to spread some holiday cheer. Christmas M&M’s Candies are a festive filler. You can also make some to display throughout your home.
The sweet, adorable Santa jar is now complete. Try making it with children and see how much they enjoy creating Aunt Bernadine's Santa Jars.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Happy Crafting!
