STEP 1: Cut the straw

For this tutorial, I am using straw from an old broom. Kids, if you are planning to cut the straw from an real broom, be sure to ask your parent for permission. 18in Doll Broom_1.1.3

First, gather the materials: a thin stick and some dried flower leaves or straw from a broom. 18in Doll Broom_1.1.4The straw will be too long for the doll broom as it is, so cut it in half. Set the straw (or dried leaves if you're using them) aside.

Step 2: glue the straw to the branch

This step involves using a hot glue gun, so parental supervision may be needed if a child is making this broom. Take the glue gun and spread some glue around the branch, about one inch up one end of the branch.18in Doll Broom_1.1.5

Take the straw and place it in the glue, piece by piece.18in Doll Broom_1.1.6

Once the straw has been placed around the branch, add more glue to build up the straw end of the stick.18in Doll Broom_1.1.7

Keep adding straw until the broom has the desired fullness.18in Doll Broom_1.1.9

step 3: tie a piece of twine around the straw to hold it together

Using the glue gun, add a ring of glue around the straw a short distance from the top of the straw on the branch.18in Doll Broom_1.1.10

Take one end of the twine, place it on the glue, and wrap the twine around the broom several times. Then, cut the twine and adhere the end to the broom.18in Doll Broom_1.1.11

step 4: cut the bottom of the doll broom

If desired, use the scissors to cut the bottom of the straw to make it even.18in Doll Broom_1.1.12

The broom for the 18" doll is finished! Use it to play quidditch or as an accessory for the doll in her dollhouse! Doll Brooms with Two Dolls
