Back To School Sewing Projects!
It seems that as summer winds down, we start to think of all things back-to-school! We have found some awesome back to school sewing projects that you can make for your school-aged children and even for your college students heading off for new adventures.
Some of the school sewing crafts and projects we have are at a beginner level, so you might want to consider those as sewing projects for kids and get those kids involved!

Memories...
I remember the summer before I started kindergarten, my grandma and my mom worked in my mom’s sewing room for the better part of the day making me the most amazing art smock. It was blue gingham check with a large painter’s pallet on the front, complete with a brush and various colored “paint splotches” on the pallet.
Now we send them in an old adult’s shirt, and come to think of it, some of the kids in kindergarten did have those. But my mom and grandma loved to sew, and it made me feel so special to have such a fancy smock made with love.

Free Back-to-School Sewing Projects
We have several backpack patterns ranging from simple to much more complex. A couple of them are so beautiful, versatile, and even made with oilcloth, that you may want to make one for yourself!!! The simple backpacks could be sewn along with your child.
The lunch bag patterns are fantastic! Once again, they range in difficulty. We included insulated boxes, bento bags and more simple bags. We even have tutorials for the popular reusable sandwich and snack bags to tuck inside those school lunch boxes. Remember, we love to be green!
Pencil case patterns abound here as well. Round up all of those pens, pencils, and erasers in these great pencil cases. You can find those that snap into a three ring binder and others that your student can carry. Check out the tutorial for the pencil case made of a ribbon and a zipper. So very unique and will be the talk of school!

A great sewing project for kids is making a fabric bookmark to tuck into that favorite library book or heavy history book! We have several pattern ideas to choose from, and the kids can even make them as back to school teacher gifts.

For those college kids of yours, we have laundry bags, journal and book covers, and items to decorate their dorms such as envelope pillows, T-shirt pillows, and blankets.
They won’t need an art smock, but they would enjoy the backpack and lunch box patterns as well. The tablet and laptop cases and covers, along with our messenger bags, some complete with zippers, are definitely worth a look!!!
