Tee shirt quilts, also called memory quilts, are very popular gifts, especially for high school graduates!
Typically, teens have dozens of t-shirts that they have collected from concerts, sporting events, sports they played in school, vacations, trips, and many more places. As most parents find, their graduate would not be caught wearing these old tee shirts to college!
But they don’t want to give them up either. So what is the solution? Quilting those t-shirts to make a wonderful tee shirt quilt to take to college with them!
Learning how to make a tee shirt quilt will help you create a special gift that will preserve many warm memories. Learn more about repurposing tee shirts on our Recycle! Repurpose! Reuse TeeShirts page.

What type of interfacing do you use for a t-shirt quilt?
Interfacing will need to be used as a stabilizer for the tee-shirt quilt. It is recommended using a light-weight fusible interfacing that won’t stretch out of shape.
Both woven and non-woven interfacing can be used for a t-shirt quilt. Most quilters like to use Pellon Shape-Flex which is woven or Therm-o-Web Heat’n Bond which is a non-woven interfacing.
Scrolling down on this page, you will find many wonderful DIY T-shirt instructions showing how to make a nice keepsake quilt. Some instructions include sashing between the tee shirts. Others have no sashing at all.
