For those serious quilters, there is a fabric cutting system that needs to be discussed!
Enter Accuquilt! This company offers several fabric cutting systems that can accurately cut several layers of fabric into various quilting pieces.
Use these cutters and cut down the time it takes to cut! They actually cut fabric 90% faster than rotary cutters and scissors.
There are many die shapes that cut fabric for piecing quilt blocks by using the cutting dies and a rolling mat. The die, fabric and mat are put through the cutting machine and the pressure cuts through the fabric layers, making accurate pieces every time.
They really are amazing and make assembling a quilt so much easier.
There are three Accuquilt Cutting Systems at the time of this writing. Our experience has been with the Accuquilt GO!, but for informative reasons, the others will be touched on quickly.
The Accuquilt GO! Me
The very basic cutting system offered is the Accuquilt Go! Me Fabric Cutter.
This is a lightweight and portable cutting system that is easy to carry to quilt retreats and other places you may want to do some fabric cutting. A hand-crank is used to cut 6 layers of cotton fabric at one time and is compatible with more than 200 GO! And Qube dies.
This starter system includes:
- Accuquilt GO! Me Fabric Cutter
- 6x6 cutting mat
- half square triangle die
- quarter square triangle die
- 5 quilt patterns.
Accuquilt Go! Big Electric
Accuquilt also offers the Accuquilt GO! Big Electric Fabric Cutting System that we at Needlepointers.com have used. This is their top-of-the-line, fastest GO! cutter.
Instead of having to hand crank the die, fabric, and mat through the machine, the Accuquilt GO! Big allows the quilter to simply push a button to create perfectly cut shapes in seconds.
Like the other Accuquilt Fabric Cutters, it too can cut up to 6 layers of cotton fabric at a time. However, this has a 14” cutting width which can cut two 6” wide dies side by side.
Included in this system:
- Fabric Cutter
- Flying Geese 3 1/2 x 6 ½ die
- Half Square Triangle (6” finished square) die
- Quarter Square Triangle (6” finished square) die
- 8” x 12” cutting mat
- Pattern and idea book with 5 flying geese patterns
Accuquilt GO!
And finally, here is information on the Accuquilt GO! Fabric Cutter.
Weighing only 15 pounds, this fabric cutter is portable like the GO! Me. It also has the same hand-crank system.
Included in this starter set:
- GO! Fabric Cutter
- GO! Square - 4 1/2 (4” finished)
- GO! Square - 2 ½ (2” finished)
- GO! Half Square Triangle - 2” finished (cuts two)
- GO! Cutting mat
- 20 page pattern book
After using and learning the GO! Me system over time, it was nearly impossible to not purchase more dies.
This page includes tutorials on the versatility of the GO! dies along with many free quilt block patterns that can be beautifully made with the Accuquilt GO!. Check out my favorite: The Hunter’s Star Quilt! It’s just amazing.
