Precut fabric, such as charm squares, makes beautiful quilts that are very popular with beginner quilters. These charm squares, cut into 5” x 5” come in packs and are a versatile size of fabric for quilters to work with.
These charm packs contain 42 5” squares or roughly 5/8 of a yard of fabric. Beginner quilters and seasoned quilters often use these fabric precuts because they come in coordinating colors from a fabric collection and all pieces work together to make a coordinated quilt.
What can be made with charm squares?
The wonderful free quilt patterns below show a wide variety of fun projects that can be made from charm pack versions such as:
- Baby quilts
- Throw size quilts
- Totes
- Fabric corner bookmarks
- Skirts
- Little quilts
- Friendship quilts
- Earbud holders
- Scarves
- Lampshades
- Table runners
- Wall hangings
- Other beautiful quilts in larger sizes
An easy and stunning quilt can be made with charm packs. Some new quilters simply sew the precut squares of fabric together to make a patchwork quilt. However, these charm packs are versatile and can be made into a variety of styles.
The charm squares can be cut with a rotary cutter and sewn into half square triangles to form a very different pattern than that of simply sewing the squares together.
